Programme for 2018

Gardeners’ Club

The Stowe IX Churches Gardeners’ Club was first started in 1901, but lapsed after a number of years.  It was re-started in 1959 by Miss Sylvia Starmer and is still going strong today.  The Club holds two shows each year.  The Flower Show in June showcases roses, sweet peas, delphiniums and summer fruits.  The Flower and Produce Show in September has a wide range of classes, including home baking, craft items and preserves, as well as flowers, fruit and vegetables.  The children have their own section and contribute some fantastic exhibits.

While nobody can afford to retire on the prize money there is always a great deal of friendly rivalry, especially in classes like the longest runner bean!

The Gardeners’ Club does not have regular meetings apart from the AGM but members do support events held by clubs in local villages like Farthingstone, Flore and Harpole.
