Our county has many beautiful churches and John White will show us some of our more interesting churches. He will share with us his deep knowledge gained through his almost thirty years as Chairman and Secretary of the Historic Churches Trust. John is an excellent and delightful speaker.

Prosecco and canapés will be served.

IN THE BOAT HOUSE BY THE LAKE IN CHURCH STOWE

Peter Stratton will give us an insight into the little-known German Prisoner-of-War camp at Eastcote. Over 4000 German prisoners were detained there, and now there’s absolutely no sign of it. It’s a fascinating story, well told by Peter.

Tea and delicious cakes will be served.



Thursday, 21st November, 2019 – 2.00-4.00 pm

Neil Lyon will tell us about his research into the demise of some fine large houses in the county. He will share information about our beautiful county houses, and how many of them were saved from destruction between the two world wars. Neil has written a brilliant and compelling book on this subject.
